Journal - What have you learned about making a website so far? What has been easy about it and what has been frustrating? Explain.

I have learned a lot with Dream Weaver in the last week. I had no clue that websites were made like this. I learned how to link pages to each other, make tabs and insert pictures and content. The easiest part of the project was was adding the pictures and content. Because it's a lot different than Microsoft word and powerpoint, you cant move pictures around like you can in word and powerpoint. The most challenging part of the project was making the tabs and linking all of them together because it became repetitive and boring.

Journal - Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted I should be able to use it."

I disagree with this statement because the person who posted the image took the time to upload it and people should not be able to take it and use it as their own. If you take someone else' s work and use it as your own without giving the owner credit it is called plagiarism, and is against the law.

Journal - What do you know about plagiarism? What do you know about plagiarism on the internet? How do web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other? Explain.

Plagiarism is when you take something that is someone else's, like a quote, picture or video, and use it as your own. Plagiarism is also against the law and is classified into 2 different types. One is that you purposely took someone else's work and made it your own or you accidentally committed plagiarism, which is not as serious. Plagiarism on the internet is a lot more widespread and can be committed in many different ways. Web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other because they all relate to each other.

Journal - After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you -"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."

He is saying that you are never too good to work and to make money. He also said that the best thing you can do is to work hard and be smart and everything else will fall in its place. The statement he quotes means that everything important in your life was made by people just as smart as you are and that you can, “build your own things that other people can use" (Kutcher).
